Hybrid vehicles are a great choice for drivers looking to go a little greener. If you're looking for a mix of luxury and the fuel efficiency of a plug-in hybrid, then the 2022 Lincoln Aviator Plug-In Hybrid is an SUV for you.
Richmond Lincoln is happy to introduce our neighbors from Richmond, Mechanicsville, and Ashland, Virginia, to the Lincoln Aviator Plug-In Hybrid. We'll go over the performance of this hybrid engine, how hybrid technology works, and other convenience features that make the Lincoln Aviator a fantastic SUV.
Meet the Lincoln Aviator Hybrid Engine
When you choose the 2022 Lincoln Aviator with a Plug-In Hybrid engine, the Grand Touring trim is the one that you'll get.
The Grand Touring trim has a standard Twin-Turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine with a Nano Electric motor. Working with a 10-Speed SelectShift® Automatic Modular Hybrid transmission with paddle activation, you can switch gears manually if you want or activate one of seven drive modes, including:
- Preserve EV Mode
- Pure EV Mode
The 3.0L Hybrid engine comes with plenty of power, too-494 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque, to be exact. With all that horsepower, though, the Lincoln Aviator doesn't sacrifice fuel economy. In fact, it has an EPA-estimated 54 city/58 highway MPGe.*
The hybrid engine has standard all-wheel drive, as well, providing better traction and grip while you're on the go.
How Does Plug-In Hybrid Technology Work?
The 2022 Lincoln Aviator offers a plug-in hybrid motor. This means that to charge your SUV, you plug it in to charge the electric motor. On a full charge, you'll get an EPA-estimated all-electric range of 21 miles.*
To charge your Lincoln Aviator, you have two options:
- Charge at home.
- Charge at a public charging station.
Charing at home requires a dual voltage cord at either 120V or 240V. The Lincoln Aviator can charge fully in about four hours with the 240V option.
Public charging stations are all over the country. Even if your hybrid motor isn't charged, the gas engine is there to help keep you moving. When you go shopping, check out if there is a public charging station in the parking lot and charge your SUV while you're inside.
Convenience and Safety Features
The Lincoln Aviator has many safety and convenience features to help make your drives easier and more enjoyable.
Since hybrid engines are typically so quiet, Lincoln has a way to ensure that pedestrians are aware that your SUV is there; this comes in the form of a standard EV Pedestrian Sounder.
The hybrid engine is not the only feature in the Lincoln Aviator that can help keep your fuel economy high. The available Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control system allows you to maintain a constant speed and distance from the vehicle ahead of you.
Cruise control helps with fuel economy by:
- Maintaining constant speed-acceleration means more gas.
- If acceleration is needed, it is more gradual; therefore, using less fuel than flooring it.
- Less aggressive braking and rapid acceleration means using less gas.
It can even adapt to posted speed limit signs, so you're staying safe on the road.
